Online Wind Turbine Training

We have been developing and evolving our online, Trainer-led options for several years and have carefully developed the content of our extremely popular Wind Turbine Advanced Theory and Wind Turbine Technology Essentials programs so that they can be delivered via our online ‘Distance Learning’ platform without compromising the learning experience.
We have been developing and evolving our online, Trainer-led options for several years and have carefully developed the content of our extremely popular programs so that they can be delivered online without compromising the learning experience.

Why Online Wind Turbine Training with dwpa?

At dwpa, we pride ourselves on accommodating your specific requirements and operational realities and our Distance Learning option provides participants with the flexibility to attend from any location which reduces the impact on your productivity and operating costs without compromising on the course learning objectives.

All of our Trainers have completed, or are working towards completion of, an independently certified (TUV) Trainer qualification, which enhances their ability to successfully translate the in-person training experience to the online ‘Distance Learning’ format.

We develop tailored classes to meet our customer’s needs, and this extends to the solutions we deliver via our ‘Distance Learning’ model so please contact us for more information and to determine if a solution we customize for you can be delivered via this method.

Online wind turbine training provides great flexibility and the same outcome

"dwpa had a lot of interactive exercises for us on some of the topics which made the online learning more interesting and engaging. One in particular was around the hydraulic systems where we had to figure out the flow of oil depending on the turbine status."

Chris O’Connor. Wind Turbine Engineer, Everun

What to expect?

Our 5 days online ‘Distance Learning’ programs are conducted live and give participants the opportunity to receive the benefits of Trainer interaction whilst also participating in group exercises via the use of ‘break out’ rooms.

We take great care to maximize participant ‘activation’ and ensure an engaging and hands-on experience to maximise the learning experience and ensure that participants can quickly apply the technical theory they have learned in their place of work.

In addition, we have also developed a series of 1-day ‘Technical Sprint’ modules which have been designed to provide generic theoretical knowledge development across core technical areas  including Electrics, Mechanics, Hydraulics, Controls and Drive-train/Gearbox.

Available ‘Distance Learning’ programs include:

Wind Turbine Theory Classes

The following is just a selection of the many topics we cover in the Wind Turbine Theory Class. Contact ud for the full list.

Gearbox, lubrication and cooling systems: The functionality and build-up of your turbine’s gearbox – including lubrication and cooling systems

Electrical circuits: Your turbine’s electrical schematics, build-up, and functionality.

Converter, cooling systems and grid compliance: How your turbine converter and cooling system works (explained using schematics and other relevant documentation).

Pitch, brake and yaw hydraulics: Turbine-specific understanding and foundation for Root Cause Analysis of the system (explained using diagrams and other relevant documentation).

Generator and cooling systems: How the generator and cooling system works in your particular turbine.

Advanced Platform Theory

The following is just a selection of the many topics we cover in the Advanced Component Theory Class. Contact ud for the full list.

Electrical schematics: We outline the different components so technicians can read and understand an electrical circuit

Converter: We focus on component knowledge to give technicians a comprehensive understanding of the converter.

Hydraulics: We cover all components so technicians can read and understand any hydraulic system.

Generator working principles: We focus on overall working principles before building up to different types and their functionality.

Who can benefit?

We have online wind turbine training courses available to support a variety of roles such as:

  • Wind Turbine Technicians
  • O&M personnel involved with the management/supervision of wind turbine service & maintenance activities
  • Remote Operations Centre Staff

"Having the course online allowed us to resolve some of our own turbine faults before and after the training. Otherwise, we would be away from home for the week to attend training."

Chris O’Connor. Wind Turbine Engineer, Everun

We have developed the competencies of more than 8.000 people in the wind industry

The Practicalities

Our trainers conduct the courses from studios located across three different time-zones, ensuring we can easily adapt to your working hours.

Participants will receive supporting information in advance of the training with practical exercises, groupwork assignments, and ‘homework’ activities (in some cases).

To ensure the best possible learning experience, the class size is carefully defined for each ‘Distance Learning’ delivery.

We have worked with Translators across multiple regions and can find a solution to train in your native language.
