Position Overview
dwpa is seeking a commercially driven and technically credible Executive Key Account Manager to lead and grow our presence across the North American market. This is a senior individual-contributor role with direct exposure to dwpa’s Global Sales Director at the Headquarters in Denmark. You will be the primary commercial representative for a globally recognized organization with more than 20 years of wind energy expertise, 255 turbine-specific training programs, and a proven track record of developing over 12,500 professionals worldwide.
This is not a role defined by activity metrics alone. We are looking for a strategic account leader who understands the wind energy value chain, builds trusted relationships at the highest levels, and converts operational insight into lasting commercial partnerships.
About dwpa
Founded in Denmark in 2004, dwpa (Danish Wind Power Academy) is the world’s leading independent specialist in wind turbine training and competency development. Operating across four continents, we partner with asset owners, independent power producers, utilities, and service organizations to build the technical capability needed to maximize turbine performance, uptime, and return on investment.
Our portfolio encompasses 255 turbine-specific training programs covering all major OEM platforms, including Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE Renewable Energy, Nordex, and others. The training is delivered on-site, in classroom, and via remote/live-virtual formats. We combine deep technical expertise with thought-leading learning methodologies, ensuring training translates directly into measurable operational improvement. With established offices in Denmark, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Italy, dwpa brings global reach with genuine local understanding.
The Role
As Executive Key Account Manager for North America, you will own and drive dwpa’s commercial growth strategy across the region. Working closely with the Global Sales Director and collaborating with our Denmark headquarters and globally distributed training team, you will be empowered with the autonomy to build your territory and the institutional backing of a world-class organization to support your success.
You will develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, cultivate C-suite and senior operational relationships, and position dwpa’s training solutions as a strategic investment rather than a transactional purchase. Your conversations will span the C-suite and boardroom to wind farm operations teams, and your ability to translate complex technical environments into compelling value propositions will be central to your impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a focused North American go-to-market strategy, building a high-quality pipeline from prospecting through to contract close.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts, deepening relationships with asset owners, operators, IPPs, and service organizations at senior and executive levels.
- Engage credibly and consultatively with technical stakeholders, including operations managers, engineering leads, and field technicians, translating operational challenges into tailored training solutions.
- Collaborate with dwpa’s Global Sales Director and internal subject-matter experts to develop commercially compelling proposals and account plans.
- Represent dwpa at industry forums, trade events, and customer sites, maintaining a strong on-the-ground presence across the North American wind energy market.
- Provide structured market intelligence and customer feedback to inform product development, pricing strategy, and regional positioning.
- Meet and exceed agreed commercial targets, reporting on pipeline health, account progression, and revenue performance with transparency and rigor.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- A minimum of five years’ B2B sales experience, with demonstrable success managing complex, multi-stakeholder accounts, preferable experience within renewable energy.
- A minimum of three years’ direct experience within the wind energy sector, with a strong understanding of turbine operations, service environments, and asset management.
- Proven ability to engage credibly with both technical professionals and senior commercial decision-makers.
- Track record of building a sales territory and pipeline from the ground up, with consistent over-achievement against revenue targets.
- Strong commercial acumen combined with a consultative, solutions-oriented approach to selling.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across North America.
- The right to work in the United States (preference for U.S. citizens or holders of U.S. work authorization).
Valued Attributes
- Self-directed and intrinsically motivated – you set your own standards and hold yourself accountable to them.
- Intellectually curious about wind technology and the broader energy transition, with the drive to continuously develop your market knowledge.
- Collaborative in approach – comfortable bridging the distance between field-based customers and an international headquarters team.
- Confident in ambiguity: able to build structure, prioritize effectively, and execute in a fast-moving, results-oriented environment.
What we Offer
- A senior commercial role with genuine autonomy, backed by a globally respected and financially stable organization.
- Direct access to and partnership with dwpa’s Global Sales Director, with clear lines of influence to the executive leadership team in Denmark.
- Competitive base salary with significant performance-linked bonus upside directly tied to your results.
- The opportunity to represent an industry-leading brand with 20+ years of credibility, trusted by the world’s largest wind energy operators including Ørsted, SSE Renewables, RWE, and others.
- A role at the heart of the global energy transition, helping organizations build the skilled workforce needed to scale renewable energy.
- A high-performance culture that values expertise, initiative, and accountability – where results are visible, recognized, and rewarded.
- Full support from a world-class team of trainers and technical experts across four continents.
